Active 1492 (ACV Fh 9, cited), 1495 (ACV P de Mestral I 1507, fol. 428, reconnaissance dated 01 dec 1495), another in June or July of 1486 (Fh 200, unnumbered folio at the end of the volume), another in 1470 (Fj 70, fol. 62).
The reconnaissance of 1495 helps to establish the relationships: Discretus vir Jacobus de Fogia notarius de Gymel qui tam suo et suorum liberorum susceptorum a quondam Bona filia Petri Filietaz quam Johannis filii quondam Petri Fillietaz de Gymel nomine tanquam ut dicebat, recognized several properties that had been purchased by the late Petrus Fillietaz.
In Fj 55, fol. 307, there is a reconnaissance involving both families: "Johannes Fillietaz de Gemelz filius quondam Petri Filietaz, et Jacobus de Fogia clericus eius sororius (brother-in-law) maxime dictus Jacobus constitutus suo et dicti Johannis Fillietaz liberorumque suorum dicti Jacobi in ventre quondam Bone eius uxoris sororis dicti Johannis progenitorum nominibus", 15 may 1499.

Jacobus DELAFOGE (ID #I16790)

Even though we find this Jacobus identified as a priest in at least a few documents from before the imposition of the Reformation in 1536, the quernet Fh 16 (dating nominally from 1543, but some of the descriptions contain earlier text) appears to say that he left a son Johannes de la Foge (fol. 513v) — not impossible, but we would like to find confirmation in other terriers.
Nevertheless, this Jacobus de la Foge, priest, is definitely the one mentioned in Fh 143 (fol. 34v, 21 feb 1525) as the guardian of Mauricius son of the late Stephanus Filliettaz, in a reconnaissance for property subject to the Seigneur de Champvent. On this occasion Jacobus is identified as the uncle of Mauricius, but from what has been discovered so far, he must have been an "oncle à la mode de Bretagne", one or two degrees more remote. Another record, in which the same Jacobus is still the guardian of the same Maurice (Fh 144, fol. 510v, dated 19 feb 1529 Style of the Nativity), Venerabilis Jacobus de Fougia de Gimel cappellanus veluti tutor et administrator ac tutorio et administratorio nominibus Mauricii filii pupilli Egregii Stephanii Fillietaz de Gimel quondam burgensis Albone, recognized several properties that Stephanus Fillietaz had purchased from others. In later records (e.g., Fh 153, fol. 746, dated 15 mar 1568), we find a property that had devolved to Marie, the sister of Mauricius, with the statement that she held it by succession from the same Jean Filliettaz who was the subect of a reconnaissance in 1508 (Fh 137, fol. 879v, concerning fishing rights). In fact, Fh 153 contains a whole series of reconnaissances, dated in 1568, in which the fishing rights held in 1508 by Jean Filliettaz had been divided among a large number of descendants: Nicolas de la Foge (alias Fillietaz) and his brothers, sons of the late Pierre de la Foge; Maurice and Jean de la Foge, brothers; Pierre son of Pierre Filliettaz; François son of Jaques (very likely this Jaques would have been called Jacobus in the Latin documents) Filliettaz, Estienne Collat and his mother Marie Filliettaz daughter of the notary Estienne Filliettaz. With further investigation it may be possible discover the connections among these individuals.
However, there is one possible solution that requires an error in alterations in the quernet Fh 16 (1543), such that Maria, stated to be one of the children of the original tenant Johannes Filliettaz, was in fact the daughter of Stephanus son of Johannes. As her father Stephanus had already died in 1525, Maria might have been substituted (assuming her brother Mauricius had already died, as seems to be implied in several other records). If that is the correct solution, ignoring for the moment the other heirs to the fishing rights, what would the relationship be between the priest Jacobus de la Foge and Mauricius Filliettaz? They would be first cousins once removed, a relationship that at least by the 17th Century in this area would sometimes have been called uncle, in the loose sense of "oncle à la mode de Bretagne", such that the "uncle" is the first cousin of the father of Mauricius.
