Admitted to citizenship at Geneva 01 aug 1582, and as a vassal of Bern on 08 jan 1583, according to documents preserved in the papers of the Senarclens family at the Archives Cantonales Vaudoises (ACV P Château de Vufflens). Items 388 and 390 of this collection include some information about his father. Also, item 395 of the same collection attests that he purchased the château and seigneurie of Vufflens from the Bailli, Béat Jacob de Bonstetten, and others, on 04 dec 1582. Item 401 is a letter from Henri IV of France (24 jan 1599), explaining that the first wife of the late François Le Marlet, Claude Jacob, had been declared an adulteress and had been sentenced to death in absentia, and that as a result, Le Marlet had been free to remarry, this marriage recognized both in France and by the government of Bern, even though Claude Jacob was believed still to be alive. Another item from this collection, now lost, is listed in old inventories as letters from Louis XIII of France confirming this situation in 1610, and listing the children of the late François Le Marlet as Jean, François, and Anne.
Some items that were originally part of the archives of the Senarclens family, listed in the old inventories but not present when the collection was received by the ACV, were in the possession of Alfred Necker, notary of Geneva, in 1994. These documents were reviewed and summarized by the ACV (see the inventory of this collection in the DAVEL database on the archives' web site). This group of documents includes several items relating to the history of the Le Marlet family.

A dossier in the same collection (item 600) concerns the activities of François Le Marlet during the period 1577-1621, acting as an agent of Henri de Navarre.

Seigneur de Bussy, by inheritance in 1626. Some sources call him Jean, others (including the Schweizerisches Geschlechterbuch for 1907) call him François, further specifying that his widow was the second wife of Abraham Crinsoz, whose son by his first wife, Antoine Crinsoz, married Anne LeMarlet, daughter of François LeMarlet. We have not found proof of the names of Anne LeMarlet's parents. The terrier ACV Fg 171, containing copies of reconnaissances from about 1690 with citations of an earlier set of reconnaissances from about 1630, calls him Jean Le Marlet. Another Anne Le Marlet, born about 1627, daughter of François and wife of André de Praroman, may have been the cause of the confusion. This François Le Marlet was Seigneur de Vufflens-le-Château; the de Praroman genealogy gives him a wife Marie "Zucy", who is apparently the same woman called Marie "Quey" elsewhere, widow of the François Le Marlet who died before 1641, by which time she was the wife of François de Senarclens. This François Le Marlet had a brother Jean, who had inherited the Seigneurie of Bussy.
