Father's name is listed as Jean instead of Jaques at the baptism, but there does not seem to be another family of this surname in the area at this period.

He was one of the governors of Ballens in 1506, along with André Barbier. He made a "reconnaissance" 28 may 1506 (ACV FH 137 fol. 413 with his wife Marie, daughter of the late Claude de Froideville son of the late "Bissenczonus de Frigidavilla", and also with his wife's brother Pierre de Froideville, and with André son of the late Pierre son of the late Claude de Froideville.
His children Sulpice and "Stevenette" survived him, mentioned under the name Monaz in the terrier ACV Fg 283, from about 1555.
He is also the Johannes Monaz, from Abloux in the diocese of Geneva, habitant at Ballens, who, with his wife Maria, daughter of the late Glaudius Besenczon, and with her brother Petrus, and with Andreas son of the late Petrus, brother of the same Maria, recognized property at Ballens subject to the chapel of St. Blaise in the church of Romainmôtier. The property was en Poen, adjacent to Jacob Mayor and Nicod Soudan, as of the date of the reconnaissance, 04 mar 1513. (From this, it appears that Claudius had two sons named Petrus, not an unusual occurrence at that period. This is confirmed in other records.) The same property was mortgaged to the chapel by Johannes Darphin or Dalphin and his wife Johanneta 17 nov 1449, and at that time was adjacent to property of Aymonetus Mayor and Huguetus Soudan. These documents are in ACV C XX 18/6.
