Victor family notes show her name as Dickson. Whether this is the result of faulty research or another marriage, we have not been able to determine. Another branch of the Victor family gives her name as Wineland. Certainly Richard Victor had a wife named Alda about 1942-1945, attested by directory listings in San Diego and Seattle. Biographical information from family sources suggests their son Ronald Victor later became Ronald Dickson, so it may be that Alda had a brief marriage before she married Harold McNichol. The marriage to McNichol has not been found. He had a long career in the Navy. He seems to have been living in California in the early 1950's, and was scheduled to graduate from high school (he must have joined the military during World War II before graduating) in Altoona, PA in 1954.
Richard Victor, Alda's first husband, was involved in the battle of Tarawa, the same battle in which the brother of her second husband Harold McNichol had been lost.
Apparently remarried several times. She appears as Grace B. Ross, mother of Ross G. Barnett, in 1920 census. However, same census has Laura A. Winfield (widow) seemingly grandmother of Ross G. Barnett. Birth record filmed with an extra page obscuring the exact date, but a later filming is on the new Family Search web site. (1920: Jackson, MI, ED 45, p. 9)
