The Bégoz genealogy places him as no. 11, son of the Vidomne Gabriel Bégoz. The Vidomne had a son Jean Jaques, but that son, a minor in 1546, cannot be the same Jean Jaques who survived until about 1645 and baptised a daughter in 1629. Likewise, Gabriel, the other son of the Vidomne, was likely not the Gabriel who was the cordonnier, and apparently the brother of the younger Jean Jaques. We suggest the present arrangement in order to remove the difficulties of chronology, but the parentage of the present Jean Jaques remains to be proved.

She is no. 16 in the Bégoz genealogy. The marriage record at Aubonne identifies her as Jeanne Françoise daughter of Gabriel Begos or possibly Begue, bourgeois d'Aubonne, but, however, the same record identifies the groom as the son of the late Louis Valier, vivant bourgeois d'Aubonne. The different phraseology might indicate that her father was still living. The record of her second marriage, also at Aubonne, calls her Jeanne Françoise Begos, relaissée de feu Nicolas Valier. So far, we know of only one child, her daughter Jeanne Vallier born in 1636. From this date, she should have been born no earlier than 1591, and possibly as late as 1620. Consequently, her parentage — that is, which of the Gabriels was her father — is also in question.

She is no. 23 in the Bégoz genealogy, which calls her Louise-Madeleine, and gives her an exact date of birth, 12 oct 1629. However, the baptismal record at Aubonne is dated 17 jan 1630, for Louise daughter of Jean Louis Begos. The source of the additional name and the exact date of birth are not given in the Bégoz genealogy. Her father had purchased the coseigneurie of La Chaux, and so she inherited this fief, which became part of her dowry. The Bégoz genealogy refers to her testament dated 04 aug 1680, which is at Geneva, AEG Testaments vol. D, no. 76, signed Grosjean. The testament names her husband and her children Jean Anthoine, Jean, Philippe, Pierre, Michel, Andrienne, Louise, and Louise Marie.
