His testament was recorded 23 feb 1561 by Jean Jaquier, notary at Moudon (ACV DL 53/1 fol. 69v). It names his son Guillaume, daughter Claudaz (not yet married), daughter Françoise wife of Jean Jordan, daughter Louise wife of Pierre Millet, brother Pierre George living in the parish of Pamblon, sisters Gaspardaz, Michielaz, and Andreaz, and wife Catherine. He is apparently the grandfather of the Pierre George whose notarial register begins in 1584 (ACV DL 46/1).

His marriage contract says he was the son of the late Pierre George, rather than of Guillaume George as stated in the church record. The church record is dated 17 nov 1583. A "reconnaissance" of 04 aug 1594 (ACV Fn 343 fol. 344v) also identifies him as the son of Guillaume.

The baptismal record notes that the father, Martin Gerberon, was the Prevost de Gerbeviller. The sponsors were Jan de Moront, representing Mme. de Deuilly, and "la damoiselle de Verdun".

The baptismal record also calls the child Elizabeth, but seems to indicate that the true name is Marie. The father was absent from the baptism, because he was on business of Mme. de Deuilly.

The notes of the Gélieu family, consisting of transcriptions of documents that may no longer exist, indicate that Martin Gerberon was the second husband of Anne Chapellier, widow of Fourquignon Poterat. Martin had become the guardian of Nicolle, daughter of Poterat, as early as April, 1569. These notes call Martin the Prevoste of Gerbéviller and associate him with "la dame douairiere de Deuilly".
Some confirmation of these notes has been located in the register of protestant baptisms at Badonviller, which contain the baptisms of four children of Martin Gerberon. One of these says that Martin was absent on business of Mme. de Deuilly (1568), and another calls him Prevost de Gerbéviller (1572). Further, his wife Anne appears as a sponsor for a baptism, 06 nov 1569.
There is no mention of Bernard Gélieu or any member of the Poterat family in the register at Badonviller. Marriages and burials for this parish seem not to have survived.
