Various documents, including some recorded by Daniel Antoine Jossevel, notary at Moudon, concern settlement of the estate of Daniel Nicod by his grandchildren. It is tempting to think that Daniel Nicod was also the father of the Abraham Nicod who arrived in Manakintown, Virginia, in 1700 along with Pierre "du Toy", apparently from Moudon. An Abraham Nicod is cited in various court records about 1680, very likely the son of Daniel. However, the baptisms of most of Daniel's children have not been identified. Another problem is that we have not been able to establish the parentage of Daniel's wife, Sarah Dutoit.
The documents so far discovered that relate to the estate of Daniel and his wife have mentioned only their daughters. Even though they had at least three sons, there seems to be no mention of any of them after the marriage of the son Daniel to Marie Gavin. Perhaps the records of the cour de justice of Moudon will reveal more details. Pending further discoveries, it is entirely plausible that the son Abraham traveled to Manakintown about 1700 and died there.

His death record at Moudon calls him Monsieur Jean Nicod Hospitalier de Moudon. His wife Jeanne Frossard who had died only a few weeks earlier was described as Madame l'Hospitaliere Jeane Nicod de Moudon née Frossard. Was he called Jean, Jacob, or perhaps Jean Jacob?
His verbal testament was presented before the cour de justice de Moudon 05 may 1621 (Jaques Jaquier, notary at Moudon, ACV DL 52/1 fol. 135). The document notes that he had died about 3 weeks previously and left his estate to his sons and daughters in equal portions. While is it virtually certain that he must be another son of the notary Daniel Nicod-Arnaud, no document has yet surfaced that lists his parentage.
