The surname is difficult to read, could perhaps be Parie or Paries in some records, all of which would have the same pronunciation. She probably died about 1625. By 1632, the wife of Esdras Cornut is Susanne Bonard, daughter of the late Isaac of Romainmotier, and widow of Egrège David Brun, Secrétaire de Cossonay.
No indication of her parentage or origins has yet surfaced. However, since the ministers tended to marry the widows, sisters, or daughters of other ministers, it may be significant that, as of 1668, the wife of the pastor at Vevey, Josué Chevallier, was Susanne Paris (cited in the church records of the parish of Montreux, where this couple appeared at a baptism, 11 may 1668). Guillaume Paris was minister at Cheseaux 1614-1626 (but the records for precisely this period are lost!), then at Lutry, at Blonay in 1644, then moved to St. Saphorin about 1648. The name is encountered in the 16th and 17th Centuries in Lausanne, Prilly, La Tour-de-Peilz, Ollon, and Aigle. (The family at Aigle acquired citizenship there in 1558; they came from Leysin, which, prior to 1702, was an annex of the parish of Aigle.) Other scattered references to this name occur in the records of Vaud, but no connections with the wife of Esdras Cornut are known.
