Surname is given as Perrin in La France Moderne, but the protestant registers at Annonay consistently show Paret, except for a couple of reference from about 1670. However, we find Perrin in the marriage contract of her son Jean Léorat with his second cousin Charlotte Léorat. Thus, confusion remains.

The name of Pierre's wife is not given in the record of the baptism of his daughter Catherine. However, there is no evidence for a different wife, as Pierre Paret dit Laurans appears with his father-in-law Jean Chognard as early as 1604, and Louise herself appears as late as 1629. Though there are many other Paret families, there does not seem to be another Catherine of this generation.
