His will bears the date of his death, and apparently was made in haste. Of his children, only the two eldest are named in his will; he left them legacies and gave the residue of his estate to wife, Joanna, to be disposed of among his other children at her discretion. She and her son, Isaac, were residing in Framingham, 1725, at which time she remained his widow.

[12573] After his marriage to Elizabeth Story, the family immigrated to Sudbury, where they had 8 more children.
William was a freeman, 1643; selectman; representative to the General Court, 1644; a founder of Marlborough, 1660; again representative in 1666; in garrison at Marlborough through King Philip's war.
While much has been written about the Ward family, discrepancies occur from one genealogy to the next...not only in regard to dates, but in spelling of surnames, spouses, etc. A search of the Sudbury and/or Marlborough records might eliminate some confusion.
[15238] First wife of William Ward, whose name is unknown, died in about 1638, leaving him with five children to raise.
William thought to be from Yorkshire, ENG., possibly the son of Edward Ward.
Monument in honor of William & Elizabeth Ward, dedicated in 1924, replaces earlier tombstones in Spring Hill cemetery.
