Surname varies, Guey, Gay, etc.
A transaction involving Perrod "Gazel" de Crosaz and the Curé of Féchy is in the "Inventaire Blanc" at the Archives Cantonales Vaudoises (Layette 296B, item 898, "acquis en faveur du curé de Feschy contre Perrod Gazel de Crosaz", the date reading 26 apr 145...). The date in the inventory was originally given as 1551, but at notation in the inventory by Antoine Baron, one of the early archivists, suggests the date should be read as 1451. Another document (C XX 22/65) involving the same parties is more clearly dated 26 apr 1452, and we believe this is another copy of the same transaction.
There is reference to a Pierre Mugnier autrement "Gazel" in the terrier ACV Fh 153 (fol. 498, and elsewhere). It is not yet clear whether these citations refer to the same family.
He is evidently the subject of an item in the terrier Fh 4, believed to date from about 1430. On fol. 27v, there is an item concerning "Perrodus Gaczel de Crosa subtus Feschier tenere confessus fuit quolibet anno perpetuo in quolibet festo Beati Michaelis super bonis que quondam fuerunt Mermeti Pitet de Crosa et Nicole eius uxoris filie quondam Vuilliermi Gaczel", who owe an annual cense of half a pound of bee's wax.
In another terrier, Fh 4bis (fol. 67v), there is a reconnaissance by the same Perrodus Gazel for property subject to the Seigneur of Alamand, dated 05 dec 1432, citing previous sales to the same Perrodus dated 09 apr 1420 and 21 aug 1422. From this we can infer that Perrodus had reached the age of majority by 1420, and that, therefore, he was born no later than 1395. In fact, we can make further inferences from the terrier Fh 127, where further details about Perrodus are included in a reconnaissance by his granddaughter Johanneta, wife of Michel Robert, dated 26 jan 1467 (fol. 26): the same Perrodus had made a reconnaissance on 08 feb 1419 (recorded by Jaquetus Gos), and his father, Aymonerius Gazelli, had made his testament 13 apr 1374 (recorded by Jaquetus de Extertines). Therefore, it appears we can push the birth of Perrodus back at least to 1374 (at that period, testaments or "ultime voluntate" were usually prepared during one's final illness). Also, there is a separate document, ACV CC XX 22/37, a reconnaissance by the same Perrodus Gazel de Crousa subtus Feschier for the curate of Féchy, Dominus Giletus Bisoncii, dated 02 oct 1414, recorded by Jaquetus Gos.
In the terrier Fh 107, there is an extract of a reconnaissance apparently dated 02 may 1379 (Section D, fol. 1/73 — there are also entries mentioning Perrodus Gazel in 1438 in this terrier). There are two problems with this entry. First, if the date is correct, it seems extremely doubtful that this is the same Perrodus who was apparently still living in 1452. Second, the extracts in Fh 107 come with their own set of questions about dates. One possible solution could be that the Perrodus of Fh 107 was the father of the Perrodus Gaczel who was the father of Vulliet. Or, the Perrodus of 1379 was the father of a Vuilliermus (Vuilliet) who in turn was the father of Nicola and of the Perrodus of 1452. In that case, the Perrodus of 1452 would be the grandson of the Perrodus of 1379. A close reading of the terriers may eventually lead to the correct solution.
There is also a very legible statement of the genealogy of this family in the terrier fragment Fh 131, where, fol. 4v, there is a reconnaissance for Michael Robert de Crousaz suo et Johannete eius uxoris nominibus filie quondam Vuilliermi Gazelli, 28 feb 1477. Here, several obligations to the confratria Sancti Spiritus de Fechier are listed, based on obligations of Johanneta's father Vuilliermus and her grandfather Perrodus, and the father of the latter is listed as Amaretus (not Aymonerius) Gazelli, and then a few lines later, Aymo (not Aymonerius or Aymonetus) is mentioned, but without any statement about whether they are the same person, or how they might be related to each other.

In the terrier ACV Fh 127, for the church of Féchy, he is mentioned in two reconnaissances by his great- (?) granddaughter Johanneta Gazel, wife of Michel Robert. The first, fol. 26, is dated 26 jan 1467, for obligations to the curate Georgius de Gimello. The second, fol. 39v, is dated 22 apr 1482, for a later curate, Vuilliermus Barberii. The first of these reconnaissances is a bit obscure about relationships, using "pater avvam" in place of "abavum" for great-grandfather. This point is clarified in the second. However, the first reconnaissance also provides dates and other details for earlier transactions, including the statement that the testament of Aymonerius was recorded 13 apr 1374 by Jaquetus de Exertines.
Fh 122 (fol. 37, 22 nov ? 1442) seems to call him Aymaretus Gazelli de Crosa, but that is apparently the name of his son. His wife appears to have been Francesia, daughter of Mermetus de Bougel (cited in the reconnaissance of 26 jan 1467, above).
The names and relationships need further clarification. Items from the "Nouveaux Titres" of the ACV (recently added to their on-line catalogue, DAVEL) may help to clarify the situation: "C XXII NF12554 Cote ancienne: Nouveaux Titres: 2637 Intitulé: 1389. août 5.
Aymonerius is also the subject of two reconnaissances in the terrier Fh 70, a rotulus, both dated 08 mar 1357 Style of the Nativity, for properties subject, apparently, to the Chapter of the Cathedral of Geneva, although the reconnaissants in this rotulus appear to be subjects of Guilliermus de Balma.
Fh 131, a small terrier for the Confratria Sancti Spiritus of Féchy, fol. 13, in a reconnaissance for an unrelated party, 28 feb 1477, mentions past bequests of Francesia, wife of Aymonetus Gazelli, daughter of Mermetus de Bougel. In this terrier, there is also a statement that the father of Perrodus was Amaretus, raising the possibility that a generation has been omitted in our genealogy. It is not yet clear which of these sources is correct.
