Le Moine has located her testament of 10 apr 1703, when she was about to "leave the realm". If her eldest son Barthelemi had returned to be her escort, the wording would make sense, as her bequest to him seems to indicate he is present, while her son André is "hors du royaume pour cause de religion" (he is in fact in England at that time). The information quoted by Le Moine gives the name of the husband of her daughter Marie as Isaac rather than Jean Jaques Falgoux, which remains to be explained. If she then left the country in the company of her son, they would surely have gone to Erlangen, where he was an elder of the French reformed congregation as early as 1688.
There is some confusion in the account of Le Moine for this family. A son Jean is introduced, not attested in parish registers. Also, another son Gédéon is quoted from a secondary source, perhaps as the result of ambiguous statements in the original court documents.

The baptismal record is evidently in error, but it is not clear how it should be interpreted. If the father's name (given as Pierre) is correct, then the mother's name is wrong. If the mother's name (Catherine Bertand) is correct, then the father's name must be Jean Johannot. Family records quoted by Le Moine alter both the father's and the mother's names, identifying this child as the son of Barthelemy Johannot and Anne Pinet. There is no further record of Mathieu son of Jean, and there is abundant evidence for Mathieu son of Barthelemy, but no baptism has been identified for him (unless it is this one, or else one that lacks the child's name).

Louis Johannot states 2 of Mathieu's sons removed to Frankfort. This matches information in La France Moderne, p. 305. These two sons must be François and Pierre, as Mathieu is known to have remained in Annonay and died there in 1792. Testament of 28 may 1728 noted by Le Moine. He is named as an heir of his aunt Anne Johannot, with the provision that he or some of his children must leave France and adopt the protestant religion.

Marriage according to La France Moderne, p. 505-506, according to which, he constructed a factory at Marmaty in 1782. In 1786, he provides for the widow of his deceased son Pierre Louis, in gratitude for her care of Pierre Louis during his last illness. In 1788, he divides his estate between his two surviving sons, and provides for his sister Claire and his daughters. This document includes a complete inventory of his house (B65, item 52, Archives of Ardèche).
The donation of 1786 is given here (B63-29 Registres d'Insinuations, Annonay ):

marchand habitant à Morges. In a baptism at Bière 1728, Matthieu and Jean Johannot, brothers, are witnesses, and the next year in Bière Matthieu appears as a witness with his wife Magdelaine. In 1733 he is again cited with his wife.
The Livre des habitants de Geneve shows Mathieu Johannot droguiste registered 21 jan 1715, just a few days before he appears at the baptism in Morges.
There is confusion over his death date, as the records at Morges do not indicate which Mathieu died in each case. Le Moine gives the date as 18 oct 1759.
