[15166] In some records the name is spelled "Looker". Family Search.org online has information about the Loker/Riddlesdale family but there are known errors and I have hesitated to add it to my database.
In 1678, Henry Looker (Loker) deeded his whole estate, "for love" to his son and daughter Jacob and Elizabeth Moore (Middlesex Co. Deeds, Vol. 10, p. 93); and Jacob, in 1697, deeded the same, which consisted of one hundred and thirty acres, to his eldest son, Jacob, for a like consideration (Middlesex Co. Deeds, Vol. 37, p. 517). A few months later, he also gave Jacob one half of his homestead farm. In 1716, Jacob disposed of the rest of his property, dividing it between other sons, Samuel, Daniel, Jonathan, James, Richard and Nathaniel (Middlesex Co. Deeds, Vol. 18, pp 137-139; 206 & 237).

[11914] Sudbury Vital Records (NEHGR 18:141) show a death record for one Jacob Moore on 17 Feb. 1690. This must have been another man. Middlesex Co. vital records show Jacob was alive in 1697 when he fell heir to his father's property.
Only the year of 1668 is given.

This date is estimated. His birth is not recorded in Sudbury. He married, 4 Mar. 1718/19, Comfort Rice of Watertown, and settled in South Sudbury, where his first child was born. In 1725 he was living in Worcester, following his trade of blacksmith. His land in Worcester was in part bought from his brother, Nathaniel. In 1756, his son Asa, administered his estate (Worcester Co. Probate 41401); and the widow's estate was administered in 1765 (Worcester Co. Probate, 41320).

This is the most accurate accounting of John Moore to date. Earlier genealogists were in error regarding the name of his wife, Elizabeth, thought to be the daughter of Philemon Whale. Instead, he married Elizabeth, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Frost) Rice. Henry was probably the brother of Edmund Rice of Sudbury but no proof has been found.
Will, dtd 25 Aug. 1668; probated 7 Apr. 1674; named wife Elizabeth; eldest son, John of Lancaster; eldest daughter, Elizabeth, wife of Henry Rice; daughter Mary, wife of Daniel Stone; youngest daughter Lydia, wife of James Cutler (her former husband, Samuel Wright, is also mentioned); sons William, Jacob, Joseph & Benjamin.

Rev. John came from New England to Newtown, Long Island, soon after its settlement in 1652, and became their first minister, and continued to preach to them very acceptably till his death in 1657.
It is conjectured that the marriage took place about 1641. Place not noted, but could have been in either Lynn, MA or Newtown, L.I., NY. After the death of Rev. John Moore, Margaret married 2) Francis Doughty, son of Rev. Francis Doughty.

He married first, Lydia Hayward; and married second, some time after he made his will in 1718-9, Ruth ____. He died Jan. 2, 1725-6 and his will was proved the same year, though there was no provision in it for his widow, Ruth. She finally consented to the will because her sons Benjamin and John had promised to make satisfactory provision for her maintenance. The will mentions his sons Benoni, Joseph, Thomas, Benjamin, John and Obadiah, and his daughters Hannah Gleason, Elizabeth Rice, Mary and Lydia.

[11745] This baptismal date may be in error but was found in more than one genealogy. Note that Joseph's father died in 1657 and Margaret married Rev. Francis Doughty by about 1660. The Doughty's had a daughter, born in 1661, the same time-frame in which Joseph Moore was baptized. Is it possible that Joseph was an infant when his father died and his baptism was delayed until she had the child by Doughty?
Joseph More, son of John of Mecox (the minister of Newtown, L.I.), was baptised in New York City in 1661.
He and wife Sarah, with children Joseph, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Mary appear in the 1698 census.
Joseph More of Southampton, Gent., wills, Mch. 21, 1723, to w. Sarah and ch. Elizabeth Sanford, Sarah Cook, Ruth M., Abigail M., gr.s. Daniel (not 21) and gr. sons Caleb and David More. Proved May 30, 1726. This name spelled indifferently Moore and More.
His will is dated 21 March 1723 and has a codicil dated 25 Dec. 1725.
1704, Oct. 26 - Mr. Joseph More of Mecox to Mrs. Ruth Harris ....
Ruth was the second of Mr. Moore's three wives, of whom the first was Sarah Halsey and the third, Sarah _____; she was probably the mother of Mr. Moore's daughters Ruth and Abigail, who were born after 1698 and who were unmarried when he made his will in 1723.

[10737] Using date calculator provided with this program, using date of death and age as stated on tombstone, it would appear that the date of 22 March 1776 is correct.
Loammi Moore, b. 22 March 1776, married Huldah Byram. Loammi "became orphaned at an early age, and was living with his grandfather, Uriah Cutler, not far from Speedwell...."
[10739] Cutler home, an old frame house, was still standing in the summer of 1894, when it was photographed. This copy of Sayre genealogy, reprinted by U. of Michigan microfilm, was not complete. The last half was excluded from this copy, thus there was no index to follow.
Loammi Moore was one of the administrators of the estate of Silas Pierson. Inventory taken Oct. 4, 1824 and was proved on 2 July & 25 Sep 1828. (Apparently Silas was his son-in-law, married to daughter, Sarah Ann).
d. 25 Jun 1841, age 65.3.3....
A house that was in process of removal fell on him, and he was killed June 25, 1841. He and his wife are both buried at the First Presbyterian Church of Morristown, NJ.
