Neville family in 1870 census, Clinton Co., IA, DeWitt Tp. p. 16 (first wife apparently listed as Laney, a likely transcription error). Need to find in 1880 census, probably will be in Sac Co., IA. Because William is a veteran, he should also be in the 1890 special census.
[7385] According to 1900 and 1920 census; however, age at time of 1882 marriage is listed as 42.
[14901] Marriage record shows parents John McDougal & Alvira Uran, and George Neville & Ann McCorkell. Hester's birthplace as New York City, Neville's res. as Sac Co., IA, wit. C. I.(?) Hullingan & J. R. Anderson, by R. P. Morden, J. P.

In some census records, Rebecca indicates her mother was born in Massachusetts. It is possible that this is actually true, implying that the Smith family did not come to PA until a bit later than we thought. It is also possible that she was simply repeating a story that the family was "from Massachusetts". Marriage records for the last 2 daughters give Rebecca's maiden name as Newman, confirming that we have the right family.
