Not completely clear that this is another son of Isaac and Martha, but listed this way on FamilySearch.org. He is apparently the James H. Slawter who is the son of Isaac and Martha.

1850 census, as James H. Slauter with his parents Isaac and Martha, Liberty Township, Warren Co., Indiana. 1860 census, same place, as James B. Slauter, youngest child of Isaac and Martha, and with 3 younger Smalley children who had been born in Illinois and Texas. Next door, son William S. Slauter age 30 with wife Elixzabeth 24 and daugther Martha R. age 5. Not yet found in 1870 census, but in 1880, he is living next door to his father-in-law W. B. Haxton (the relationship is noted in the census, even though enumerated as separate dwellings and households), but indexed as Slonter, a misreading of Slauter. However, exactly the same family is also enumerated in 1880 in Springdale, Washinton Co., Arkansas, again indexed as Slonter.

Marriage record of 1868 is indexed as James B. Slanter (misreading of Slauter) to Elixabeth Haxton.

For lack of better alternatives, and because of the good match with dates and given names, John is believed to be not only the father of Dennis, for which documentation exists, but also of Isaac. Much more documentation is needed. The Dutch Reformed congregation at New Hurley was formed in 1770 from a portion of the Shawwangunk congregation, and one of the signers of the petition of 05 apr 1768 to form the new parish was Jan Slaugter.
