Daughter of Samuel M. Boss and Priscilla Ann Butler.
Surname sometimes appears Rosset, but the marriage was indexed under Bosset, and that is how the name is spelled in numerous notarial records. In the actual marriage contract, however, recorded by Jaques Daniel Faucherres, 23 aug 1662, she is listed as Agathe daughter of the late Jean Bosson, surgeon.
[14437] Marriage contract recorded 23 aug 1662 by Benoit Giraudet, notary at Moudon.

Several citations from about 1650, including a debt of Claude Baddel of Gimel owed to Estienne Bosset bourgeois de Morges in the name of his wife, Marguerite Géleiu, 25 sep 1650, David Billard, notary. In the same year, Bosset appears as witness for a transaction involving Samuel Gélieu. Since Maître Estienne Bosset, fourbisseur (armorer) appears at the baptism of a girl named Anne in August, 1644 (Morges), we think it likely that his first wife Anne was still alive at that date, or only recently deceased. The child was evidently named after Bosset's first wife, and so we think it unlikely he had married Marguerite Gélieu by this date.
Still a minor in 1661 when the partage of his father's estate was recorded by David Billard, notary at Morges. Rodolph Quincin, Curial of St. Prex and by then his stepfather, acted for Jean Estienne.

He might have been the Anthoine Bosson (or in the church records of Moudon, Antoine du Besson) who conracted marriage with Frischinnaz, daughter of Otto Rivyz (Revi) and Jenon Bellaz, 23 nov 1563 (Jean Jaquier, notary), and married 28 nov of that year at Moudon.

Not only is Catherine Bosson apparently the mother of Thomas DuToict, brother of Esther DuToict who married Isaac Margueron, but also she may be the same Catherine Besson who appeared at the baptism of Claudine Margueron, daughter of Isaac Margueron by his first wife Jaquemaz DuToict in 1643. If this is so, the conclusion that Jaquemaz and Esther were sisters is further bolstered, but it does not much clarify the identity of Catherine and her husband.
Moreover, there may be confusion over the surname. In 1662, we find a marriage contract of Agathe Bosson daughter of the late Jean "Bosson", surgeon, to Pierre Dutoit pellatier. The same Agathe is identifed as Bosset in all other records we have found. Is it possible that Catherine was the sister of Jean Bosson the surgeon, and that the name was either interchangeable with Bosset, or evolved into the surname Bosset that was already well known in Moudon? Is the epithet "guererier" applied once to Catherine's husband a recognition of Jean Dutoit's connection with the healing arts, a connection reflected by a business assocation with the surgeon? We have come to doubt this interpretation on two accounts. First, there are several citations giving the origin of Jean Bosset the surgeon as Gléresse, where the minister about one generation earlier was a Jean Bosset from a family documented at La Neuveville and Neuchâtel. Second, the term for healer should be "guerisseur", although the word we transcribed as "guererier" remains a mystery. It is difficult to reconcile the word as written with "guerrier" (warrior), the only other similar word that comes to mind. There does not seem to be any connection between Catherine Bosson and Agathe Bosset.
In fact, the obvious parentage is Michel Bosson and Jeanne Garnier, who baptised a daughter Catherine at Moudon, 18 apr 1618. However, there are many records dealing with four surviving daughters of Michel, including a marriage of Catherine to François Vulliery, notary at Yverdon, 27 dec 1642 (contract recorded by Benoit Giraudet, notary at Moudon). It is possible that this was Catherine's second marriage, but it is somewhat surprising that the marriage contract does not mention this fact. Therefore, we are leaning to the explanation that Catherine not the daughter of Michel Bosson, or else that there were two men of that name, whose children are not clearly identifiable.
Esther Dutoit lived with her mother in Moudon after the departure of her first husband Jules Croserens and before her second marriage to Isaac Margueron. This fact is revealed in a pair of documents recorded by E. Dance, notary at Lutry, 17 mar 1664. Notices of forfeiture of property that Esther's son inherited from Jean François Croserens, late brother of Jules Croserens, were reported to have been sent to Moudon and affixed to the door of her mother's house. This would imply that Esther's father had already died. The name of her mother is not recorded in these documents. There is nothing in these documents that would preclude the mother having remarried before 1664, but they do seem to establish that Esther's father had died before March, 1664.
While the first mention of Catherine Bosson as the wife of Jean Dutoit is in 1634, the inferences reported above require that she should be the mother of the children of Jean Dutoit dit au Clerc at this period. We therefore add Susanne, baptised 30 nov 1633, to this family.
[14535] Date of contract 27 dec 1642, Benoit Giraudet, notary at Moudon.

Partage among his daughters Eve, Jeanne Françoise, Catherine, and Louise recorded 07 feb 1642 by Benoit Giraudet, notary at Moudon, with their uncle Jaques Bosson acting as their guardian. There are several other mentions in the records of this notary, and many earlier records involving financial transactions by Michel before other notaries. Baptisms for Eve and Louise have not yet been located. It is likely that the documents found so far only concern the division of the estate between the heirs who had not already received a marriage settlement. However, the presence of Benoit Giraudet as a guardian makes us wonder if we have the wrong set of baptisms here: perhaps we should be looking for a younger Michel Bosson in a different parish whose daughters were born in the 1620's and 30's!
Among the problems that require a different parentage for the Bosson's connected to the Dutoit clan, we note:
1. The Susanne Bosson who married Jaques Chatellanat and was the mother of Daniel François Chatellanat should have been born no earlier than 1615, in order to have her last child in 1660.
2. Catherine Bosson daughter of Michel Bosson mentioned in the notarial records seems to have married someone else, François Vulliery, notary of Yverdon (1643).
3. Catherine's baptism is too late for her to be the mother of Jaquemaz Dutoit, or indeed of any other of the known children of Jean Dutoit "guererer", though he may have had a prior marriage.
4. If Jean Dutoit "guererier" had a prior marriage, the Esther Dutoit who married Isaac Margueron would not be related to Daniel François Chatellanat and Michel Bridel, as stated by Jaques Crausaz, notary, in 1691.
