A tree on FamilySearch.org calls him Nathan Washington Perry and gives his birth date date 10 tenth month 1769, but without sources. There are some discrepancies in the various stories. There is a bronze marker in the Perry Cemetery, Cooperstown Township, Brown Co., Illinois, describing the migration of Nathan Perry and his family circa 1831, but the burials of Nathan and Rebecca are not marked. The birth date comes from Hinshaw's Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, vol. 1, p. 16, from the minutes of the Perquimans, North Carolina, Monthly Meeting (additional records from this meeting on p. 68, notably, Nathan disowned for "entering on board a privateer", i.e., enlisting as part of the crew, 02 fourth month 1783, as well as loose sheets with essentially the same Perry family information in the Sutton's Creek Monthly Meeting records (p. 186). (The prevailing opinion today is that the Society of Friends began calling January, instead of March, the "first month" after the English calendar change in 1752.) Whether Washington was Nathan's middle name is extremely uncertain, and in fact, we have not yet located a source that gives him a middle initial.

There is doubt also about Nathan's marriages. There is a marriage 07 nov 1787 in Perquimans Co., North Carolina for Nathan Perry and Rachel Elliott. It is not clear when or where Nathan married Rebecca, and therefore, it is also not entirely clear which children are hers. Nevertheless, the generally accepted list of eight children is given here, all believed to have come with their parents to Brown Co., Illinois about 1831.

Refernence: Kevin Robbins, Countryside, IL, Descendants of Nathan Perry and Rebecca Yarbrough, undated (Family History Library says 1984), in Family History Library (929.273 A1), 94 pp. + front and back matter. However, this genealogy was written before it was recognized that Nathan came from a Quaker family of Perquimans, North Carolina. It does not seem to include sources, apart from some relating to the early generations. In fact, a great deal more has come to light and has been added to the tree on FamilySearch.org.
