1850: Xenia Tp., Greene Co., OH, p. 54; 1860: Wabash Tp., Clark Co., IL, p. 355 as T. J. McCoy. From this, we might expect his widow to be found also in Clark Co., IL in 1870 and 1880 on the land he owned at the time of his death. Further, there should be estate papers that might reveal the whereabouts and spouses of his children.
Information on FamilySearch includes children Allen and Louise Elizabeth, both apparently born about 1838, possibly in Indiana, but the evidence for including them in this family is based entirely on their inclusion in single census records.
There is a much later grave marker in the Bethesda Cemetery, presumably a replacement of an earlier marker. The entry on Find-a-Grave says "Thomas died from a kicking colt", information that could only have come from a family source. The record was originally contribued by Lynn Renee (Tatham) Salomone, 1949-2011, but the available information does not suggest any relationship with this family.

Burial information from the death certificate. However, the burial was apparently transferred to Forest Lawn Cemetery in Long Beach at some point, as the marker there is found on Find-a-Grave. At the time of her death, she had lived in Los Angeles County for 12 years, and owned a house in Long Beach at 2445 E. Fourth Street. The informant was Mrs. Robert Kirby, likely related through Valetta's daughter Fairy King, who had married Everett Kirby.
