The terrier ACV Fh 165 (1574-1580) refers to previous reconnaissances for property subject to nobles Pierre and Anthoine Dunant (1512) and later to Anthoine alone (1523). The same terrier also mentions an earlier reconnaissance (recorded by the notary Bartholomé Tripod) dated 16 nov 1568 in which four sons of Anthoine appear: Jaques, Claude, George, and Pierre. In this context, it is likely that the sons were listed in order of birth, so we list them in that order here. The same four sons of Antoine, represented by Claude, made a reconnaissance (Fh 153, fol. 723) on 31 mar 1570 for property previously recognized by Pierre son of Pierre Dunant and by Louise daughter of the late Guillaume Montrichier (the latter reconnaissance recorded by Jean Brasier, 13 mar 1509).
Louis de Charrière, in his Les fiefs nobles de la baronnie de Cossonay (Memoires et documents publiés par la société d'histoire de la Suisse Romande, vol. 15, 1858, see especially p. 536), notes a reconnaissace by Antoine de Nanto, citizen of Geneva and bourgeois d'Aubonne, for property at Pampigny subject to the nobles de Menthon, in 1543 (this should be in the terrier Fg 67, compiled by Amé Mandrot, not yet examined). This citation establishes that the noble Dunant family of Aubonne had connections in Geneva, but as the name is extremely numerous there, it does not clarify how this family connects to the other Dunant families of Geneva.

A terrier (ACV Fh 165) was begun by the notary Jean Barbier of Aubonne for property subject to noble Claude Dunant in 1574. However, after 07 jan 1575, the reconnaissances in this terrier now give the name of the seigneur as Pierre son of Anthoine Dunant (the first such reconnaissance is dated 17 dec 1575). Evidently, Claude had recently died, and his fiefs now reverted to his brother. Pierre is the seigneur as late as 26 dec 1577. Then, on 15 apr 1578, the reconnaissance now are for property subject to Samuel son of Claude, and David, Pierre, and Zacharie sons of George Dunant.
Claude was also a notary, involved in the preparation of at least two terriers (ACV Fh 152, with approximate dates 1560-1578, and Fh 160, 1575).
His son Samuel appears in many documents after 1575. Claude is believed also to have had an illegitimate daughter Gabrielle, first noted as the wife of Thievent Filliettaz at Gimel

Pierre is mentioned as the holder of various properties in the vicinity of Aubonne as early as 1493 in this terrier. His son Anthoine holds property in his own right by 1523.
