[14789] Bk 5, p 559.
Hannah is found in Marengo, McHenry Co., IL with her two sons "C. L." and "N. D." in the 1870 census.
In 1880 census, Ida Whiteside is living with her parents, George and Mary (Goodpasture) Phillips, in Salem Tp., Warren Co., OH, and her 2 children. Census indicates divorced.
The marriage record as transcribed by FamilySearch.org) calls her Sara M. Phillips. The original record is even more problematic. The license says Mary M. Phillips, but the affidavit (on the same page) probably says Ida M. Phillips (Warren Co., Ohio. Marriage Record, vol. 2, p. 193).
A tree on MyHeritage.com says she died 24 jan 1932 in Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio, and was buried on 27 jan 1932 at Morrow, Ohio. The entry corresponds to a death certificate, Montgomery Co., Ohio, for Mrs. Ida M. Hammon of Dayton, widow, born 15 aug 1856, daughter of George W. and Mary E. Phillips. The informant was Harry Hammon of Dayton. In a similar tree on FamilySearch.org, her daughter Jessie Whiteside is listed with birth date 11 aug 1878, Warren Co., Ohio, and death date 02 apr 1948 at Dayton, parents listed as "Lyod" Whiteside and Ida Phillips. This record says Jessie was divorced, but names her husband as Harry Gross. This record has the effect of placing both Ida and at least one of her children in Dayton.
Ida's second husband was James H. Hammon, who served as a Sergeant, Troop C, First US Cavalry, in the Nez Perce War. Ida is was listed as an "Army Widow", pension apparently beginning in 1920, and computed from March 4, 1917. A newpaper obituary with a photograph (but source not listed) is found on FamilySearch.org, noting that she was survived by "two daughters, Miss Catherine Hammon and Mrs. Jessie Whiteside, and four sons, Harry, William, James, and Lee, and three grandchildren". Thus, Lee, about whom apparently nothing is known, was indeed one of her children. So far, this family has not been located in the 1900 census, where we might hope to find Lee as well as his siblings.
