The records pertaining to this family located so far cover a span of barely 8 years, beginning with his purchase of a half-interest in the estate of his father on Star Island 04 mar 1667/68, sold to James Blagdon 07 nov 1668. By 1674 he was in Boston, where he purchased land sold in 1675. He was part owner of the shallop Phillip, captured in an expedition against pirates. His testimony showed he had not taken part in the piracy, and the ship was returned to him. After administration of his estate in 1676, nothing further.

Evidence for his age includes his purchase 04 mar 1667/68 of a half-interest in the dwelling house, fish house, etc. of his father's estate on Star Island, and, with his wife, conveyance of these to James Blagdon 06 nov 1668.

It is likely that Eleanor was born shortly after the death of her grandmother, widow Eleanor Wilcomb (d. 1699). Eleanor Uran was admitted to the church at Greenland in 1716. The only record of her children by her first husband, Diamond Currier, is contained in the will of Nathaniel Lord of Gosport, 03 mar 1725/26. His wife was Elizabeth Diamond, widow of Thomas Currier and mother of Diamond and Weymouth Currier. Lord gave 10 pounds to Diamond Currier's son Richard.

1885 census of Harlan Co., Prairie Dog Tp., shows Alvira McDougle as the owner of a 40-acre farm, but she is not listed in the population schedules for that county. Perhaps she was then living with John R. McDougall family in Phillips Co., KS? Farm had 30 acres under tillage, 1 acre as woodland. There were 2 horses, 30 acres of corn (300 bushels in 1884) and 6 acres in rye (75 bushels in 1884). The whole farm worth $1,600 plus $150 in livestock and $100 in machinery etc.
Her obituary appeared in the Phillipsburg Herald (Phillipsburg, Kansas), 08 mar 1900: "OBITUARY. Died, at the home of her son in Dayton township, Feb. 26, 1900, in the 88th year of her age, Mrs. Elvira Schafty. She was born in Vermont June 11, 1812. Her maiden name was Elvira Duran and she was married in 1833 to John McDougall, a United Brethren minister, who died in the year 1884. On April 10, 1893, she married Morey Schafty whom she lived with until his death, Jan. 30, 1900. Since that time she has lived with her son. She had been a church member about 70 years and lived a consistent christian and a friend to the friendless. Mrs. Schafty was the mother of nine children of which seven are still living, fifty grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She was buried in the Bethel cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by C. W. Monsley."
The date of her second marriage in the obituary is incorrect, as can be calculated from the following account in the same newspaper, on Thursday, 13 apr 1893: "On last Saturday Judge Friant performed a marriage ceremony at his office that was rather amusing on account of the advanced age of the bride and groom. The contracting parties were Morey Shafty of Prairieview Township, aged 73, and Elvira McDougall of Dayton township, aged 80. The courtship was of rather short duration, they having only been acquainted with each other about two weeks."

From obituary, Phillipsburg Herald, 08 mar 1900, which indicates she had 9 children, of which 7 then living, 50 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Obituary has her maiden name as "Duran".

According to obituary, though not among transcribed records of Bethel/Goode Cemetery. James R. McDougall has found a broken stone in the same plot with John R. McDougall (...wife of...J. McDougall), evidently Elvira's grave.

Marriage date from McDougall bible records in Civil War pension file of John R. McDougall, and in Uran family records from Kankakee, IL. However, a record at United Presbyterian Church of South Argyle, NY says August 11, 1832.
