Even though her name is written Poitevin in later documents, the marriage contract recorded 28 may 1620 by Jaques Jaquier, notary at Moudon (ACV DL 52/1 fol. 172), clearly says Poyterlin, bourgeois de Lausanne, evidently meant to be a reference to the Poeyterlin or Poeterlin family that appears frequently in the records of Moudon. Was Jaquier mistaken? Probably so! Sara's mother, Anne Malingre, remarried to Pierre Jénin, professor of mathematics at the Académie de Lausanne and author of a series of almanacs, the last of which was published in 1641. Anne, as his widow, along with Jean Poitevin, obtained from Their Excellencies of Bern permission to publish further editions of the almanac that Jénin had prepared in advance, 15 may 1641.

Surname actually looks like Polleis in record of baptism of son Augustin. It is also unclear in the marriage record.
1880 census has him as head of household with sisters Roseanna 37 and Ettie 21, brothers William O. 26 and Edmund 23, and son George E. 9 (Argyle p. 14). In 1920, sister in law Helen McDougall 60 is living with the widowed John Pollock.
