[11111] There are many different variations of this name in print: Lewisa, Levisa, etc. I believe Margaret Levisa is the proper name.
Date discrepancy? Church records in Augusta Co., VA show that Louvisa Smith was baptised on 6 Oct. 1745, which would have made her only 11 years old at the time of marriage. Is it possible that her baptism was confused with that of her brother who supposedly was baptised 19 July 1741? Records need to be rechecked. Her name is reported variously as Margaret Louisa, Louisa, Louvisa or Levisa.

Obituary image from the Ringgold Co. GenWeb site says she was orphaned at about age 12 (if true, that would place her mother's death about 1847). After her marriage to Horatio Morse, they "crossed the plains with an ox team, being five months on the way." They lived in California for about a year, when her husband drowned in the American River. She returned to the east "by steamer" (this would involve catching a ship at San Francisco, sailing to Panama, then taking a train across to the port of Aspinwall, and sailing from there to New York), where she lived with her late husband's family. Her only child was born there. Next, she married John W. Judson, and they came west to Ringgold Co., IA in 1863.

Her marriage record says she was from Roxbury Township, Morris Co., NJ.
[14881] Bockoven family records
Surname might be Smith; 1870 census shows "housekeeper" Mary Smith age 73 b. Maine; there are so few people from Maine in San Jose, the odds are good she is a relative.
Will of Joel Smith dated 1849 refers to Mary A. Wilson, though other records show the daughter of Joel as Mary M. (?) The other Mary M. Smith, daughter of Joseph, would therefore be the one who m. Daniel G. Turner.

We are speculating that she was a daughter of Jane Smith, and so properly listed in the 1880 census as the step-daughter of Jane's husband James A. McCoy. Records of the Fanshier family call her Mary Allie Smith, while apparently the same person is called Alice Francher in the 1880 census—her true identity suggested by the two "Francher" children John and Oliver, also living with the James A. McCoy family as "nephews".
[6539] listed as step-dayghter of James McCoy in 1880 Brown Co., IL census, with Mary (McCoy ?) Smith in same household.

1870: Wabash Tp., Clark Co., IL, p. 460. While some internet sources place her death and burial in Vigo Co., Indiana, others say she died in Keith Co., Nebraska. The Bethesda Cemetery was recorded in 1939 (FHL microfilm 007727335), with the following McCoy burials:
Anna, b. 26 sep 1844, d. 04 sep 1891, wife of T. R. Stewart.
Anna M., b. 01 jul 1866, daughter of Isaac and L. McCoy, d. 05 oct 1866.
Cynthia A., b. 1838, death date not legible, wife of William R. Patton.
Mary E., birth date not legible, died 1937.
Sarah A., b. 25 apr 1864, daughter of Isaac and L. McCoy, d. 22 nov 1866.
T. J., b. 12 jun 1789, d. 15 dec. 1861.
Also, it must be noted that the gravestone shown for "Thomas Jefferson McCoy" is a replacement, as the original that was present in 1939 said only T. J. McCoy, and the present stone is clearly far more recent than 1861 (machined granite!).
The actual burial appears to be in the Brule Cemetery, Brule, Keith Co., Nebraska. On Find-a-Grave, the gravestone is transcribed by not photographed: "Mary Ann McCoy, wife of Thomas J. McCoy, died 02 jan 1892, age 87 years, 6 months, 16 days". The age at death yields a computed birth date of 17 jun 1804, instead of 16 jun 1805 from bible records.
[14942] marriage record gives name as Mary Ann D. Smith; however, Reuben Smith estate papers refer simply to Thomas McCoy and Mary. Marriage book 3, p. 130, and marriage license book 3, dated 22nov1825.
