She might be the Anne Estiannaz Asperlin baptised at Lausanne 29 nov 1680, daughter of Noble Joseph Asperlin and Jeanne Françoise de Praroman. Since she inherited property before 1711 that had come from the estate of whichever of the Asperlin had been Seigneur de Ballaigues, the research problem is to establish the succession of the Seigneurs de Ballaigues and their relationship to the rest of the Asperlin family. Samuel Asperlin, Seigneur de Ballaigues, was admitted to citizenship at Lausanne 13 oct 1651 (AVL D 438 fol. 50v), and by January, 1688 was still alive with four sons (AVL D 441/3). The last Seigneur de Ballaigues from the Asperlin family was Samuel's son Jean Salomon, who died in 1738. It follows that Anne Etiennaz must have been either a daughter or a grand-daughter of Samuel d'Asperlin.

Her identity and her parentage are proved by a terrier ACV Fh 246, indicating (fol. 1v) "vertueux Isaac et Gabriel Monod avaient pour mère feu noble et vertueuse Elizabeth Barbille D'Asperlin, fille de feu noble et généreux Sbastian D'Asperlin et de noble et vertueuse Dame Salomé De Lavigny", and also (fol. 10) "Salomé DeLavigny était soeur de Jaqueline De Lavigny veuve de Volfgand Bikartt, bourgeois de Berne, ancien bailli d'Eschallens."

Some contemporary records call him Marc Louis (e.g., the baptismal record), but the list of the bourgeoisie of Lausanne in January, 1688 (AVL 441/3) clearly calls him François Louis. Whoever he was, he was already dead, leaving no children, when his father wrote his testament in 1694. The de Praroman genealogy makes him the husband of Jeanne Françoise de Praroman, daughter of Joseph de Praroman and Anne Mannlich, but we found her marriage contract to Joseph d'Asperlin, son of Samuel by his first wife, dated 16 nov 1676 (Claude Longuedey, notary at Lausanne, ACV DG 153/2). Based on the incomplete dates that we have for this family, it does not seem plausible that "Marc Louis" could possibly have married this Jeanne Françoise de Praroman, who was born in 1660.
