A document recorded 01 jun 1596 by Claude Mayor, notary at Ballens (ACV DB 26/8 fol. 36v) shows that François Guion or Guyon of Saulbré has received various sums from Morisaz du Bugnon his sister-in-law, dating from the period when they owned property jointly and for the maintenance of their property and house, and Gabriel Monod also has received from the same Morisaz 190 florins for his marriage, and also for a donation made by her (?) brother, and a bequest made to her by her late father, the said sum belonging to Morisaz secured by various property at Saubraz. Thus, François Guion was the uncle of Gabriel Monod's wife.

However, there is also a reconnaissance of 25 jan 1576 (ACV Fh 159, fol. 396v) for a François fils de feuz Jean filz de feuz Aymoz Guyon, accompanied by another for Bernard son of the same Aymoz Guyon, suggesting either that the text of Claude Mayor is in error regarding the parentage of the present François, or, more likely given the amount of detail in the latter, that there was also a younger François, nephew of this one.
