He is no. 247 in the Burnand genealogy.
He is the author of an article on the Johannot of Echandens, in which he reveals that he descends from the Johannot family, evidently through his Foltz ancestors ("Les Johannot d'Echandens", Revue historique vaudoise 66: 177-189, 1958). In the same article, along with interesting genealogical and biographical details, he says that he either possesses or is aware of a portrait of a Jean Johannot born at Annonay 16 apr 1686, painted at Geneva in 1734. The sitter has in his hands a document relating to the payment of 3000 livres, signed, apparently, by the widow Imbard of Lyon. Where is this portrait today?

He is no. 23 of the Burnand genealogy, which calls him Sébastien François Burnand. The baptism does not include the additional name. It probably comes from a "livre de famille" compiled toward the end of the 18th Century that is cited elsewhere in the same genealogy. That genealogy also gives him two wives, Judith Jacod and Judith Comte. However, we found only one mention of Judith Jacod (or Jaccoud) in the baptismal records, and we suppose that this is an error. The mother of Judith Comte was named Jaccoud. Judith "Conte" is named as the mother of the first child of this couple in 1671, an entry that was missed by the Burnand genealogy. The church records do not agree precisely with the baptismal dates and names of some of the other children reported in the Burnand genealogy.
