Chevrier genealogy in the Recueil généalogique suisse (1902, p.95ff.).
A transaction among the surviving heirs of Antheine and of her father Jean Chevrod and her brother Pierre Chevrod, 08 apr 1575 (Benoit Nible, notary at Payerne, ACV Dp 73), refers to her testament and donation recorded by Egrège Quellet, probably a notary at Le Landeron (Neuchâtel), 25 may 1573. By 1568, she had remarried to Claude Vuargnier alias Gerard of Crissier (Dp 73/2, fol. 311v, dated 26 jun 1568, more clearly stated on fol. 333, 07 apr 1569). There is at least one mention of her children, no names given.
[5112] Deceased by 08 apr 1575, when her donation to the hospital and leprosarium of Payerne was finalized.

Marriage contract recorded 27 oct 1532 (Petrus Chuard, notary, ACV Dp 16/13, fol. 36v), where she is called Barbilliz, and her husband is identified as Freydilliz son of Hanns Marthiz, burgensis urbi Friburgi.
Already dead as of 26 feb 1548, when her daughter was one of the sponsors at the baptism of Louise, born on that date at Payerne, daughter of the notary Aimé Chuard and his wife Françoise Chantallet. Aimé Chuard included information about his family in his first notarial register, ACV DP 15/1.

Illegitimate son of the priest Jean Chevrod, called "impubère" in 1554, and thus presumably under the age of 18 at that time, when he was under the guardianship of the notary Aymé Chuard (ACV Dp 73/1, fol. 191). (Impubère is sometimes defined as not having reached the age of marriage, 18 years for boys and 15 years for girls, but the ages may not have been the same in the 16th Century.)

The genealogy of this family is still uncertain, because of multiple persons having the same names. They appear to have originated at Corcelles-près-Payerne, where they are noted from the beginning of the 15th Century, and perhaps earlier.
The transactions among the heirs of Jean Chevrod, stretching from the 1540's until at least the 1570's, reveal many relationships among the important families of Payerne, Neuchâtel, Fribourg, etc. On the occasion of a donation by his heirs for the hospital and leprosarium of Payerne, 04 may 1575, he is recalled as a former Conseiller de Payerne. He is supposed to have been one of the councillors who, along with Jean Fivaz, negotiated a renewal of an earlier treaty of combourgeoisie at Fribourg in 1526, but there is another citation of (another?) late Johannes Chevrod in 1520 (ACV Aa 12/5, no. 1252). He is cited as deceased in a sale by Jean Brossier the elder of Corcelles to Pierre son of the late Jean Chevrod of Payerne, 01 may 1539 (Pierre Chuard, notary, ACV DP 16/3).
Records of the notary Jean Bellin include a sale of property by Marie, widow of the late Jean Chevrod of Corcelles in 1441, as well as a sale by Jacobus son of Jaquetus Mellet to Pierre son of Octhetus Chevrod of Corcelles in 1459. It has not yet been possible to esablish whether these are the ancestors of the present Jean Chrevrod.
Among the curiosities of his estate is the fact that a sum of 101 "gouldarz" and one batz, money of Germany ("monnoye d'Allemagne") was received by the heirs from André Fivaz, who received it from Niklaus von Diesbach, who brought the money from "Caltombier" or perhaps "Celtembier", 24 apr 1571 (Jean Marcuard, notary at Payerne, DP 62/3). This presumably reflects collection of a debt from someone in or near Germany, or else sale of a property in such an area. The testament of Jean Chevrod was apparently recorded by Jean Marcuard (or perhaps his father, a notary of the same name), but the text has not been found.
Another Jean Chevrod, his son, a monk at the Abbey of Payerne at the time of the Reformation, became the Prior of the Cluniac abbey at Colmar (1532-1570). He is not mentioned with the other heirs in many documents, but it is possible he had already ceded his inheritance in some way.
Among the properties involved in the estate of Jean Chevrod was the dîme (a feudal tax) of Torney-le-Grand, now in the Canton of Fribourg. The web site of Torney-le-Grand quotes the following document from the communal archives:
The main reason that the descendants of Jean Chevrod continued to be involved in complicated transactions as late as 1575 was that his son Pierre Chevrod died without legitimate children of his own, and specified as his substituary heirs his siblings and their descendants. When Pierre Chevrod died, in 1549, his brothers and sisters and their offspring had already been involved in multiple marriages. A number of these transactions were recorded by the notary Benoit Nible: ACV Dp 73/1. fol. 28, 06 mar 1550; fol. 34, 18 apr 1550; fols. 41v and 42v, 03 jun 1550; fols. 45, 46, and 46v, 04 jun 1550; fol. 56, 27 nov 1550; fols. 188v and 189, 11 jun 1554 (this document reveals that Pierre Chevrod left a widow Guillauma, who next married Jean-Louis de Loys of Lausanne, Seigneur de Marnand); fols. 191 and 194, 23 feb 1554 (here we find that Jean Chevrod, formerly of the Abbey of Payerne, has become the Prévost of the Prieuré de Saint-Pierre of Colombier, an old name for Colmar, and has left a son under the age of 14 at Payerne, whose guardian is Aymé Chuard); fol. 337v, 14 mar 1557 (by this time, Colette, daughter of Benoit du Moulin and his second wife Isabel or Elizabet Chevrod, has married to François Gachet); Dp 73/2, fol. 32v, 16 may 1559; fols. 33v and 34v, 25 may 1559; fols. 64 and 64v, 04 may 1560; fol. 80v, 04 aug 1560 (marriage of Oddet Perrin to Elizabet, illegitimate daughter of the late Pierre Chevrod); fol. 85v, 16 nov 1560; fol. 136v, 29 may 1562; fol. 190v, 07 jun 1564; fol. 196v, 28 jun 1564; fol. 311v, 26 jun 1568 (a fascinating document concerning the latrines for the hostellerie of Payerne, adjacent to property of the Chevrod heirs); fol. 333, 07 apr 1569; Dp 73/3, fol. 49, 08 apr 1575 (regarding the estate of Antheine, daughter of Jean Chevrod); Dp 73/6, fol. 15, 08 jul 1563 (mentioning unnamed children of Antheine).
Usually cited under the spelling Chevroud in the French records, he was Prieur of the Prieuré de Saint-Pierre at Colmar (often listed as Colombier or similar in the records at Payerne, from an earlier form of the name of Colmar) 1535-1570. In the registers of the notary Benoit Nible of Payerne, there is mention of an illegitimate son Jean, under the guardianship of Aymé Chuard, and presumably under the age of 18, 23 feb 1554 (ACV Dp 73/1, fol. 191). It should be noted that the position of Prieur could be exercised in absentia, but there is so far no evidence that the monk Jean Chevrod was ever in Payerne after about 1536.

Testament recorded by Jean Marcuard 06 feb 1549, according to a transaction dated 04 jun 1550 in the records of Benoit Nible. The original testament is not among the surviving records of Jean Marcuard. He is cited as Banderet de Payerne in 1543.
He had an illegitimate daughter Elizabeth, whose marriage contract is dated 04 aug 1560 (Benoit Nible, notary at Payerne, ACV Dp 73/2, fol. 80v). The other documents concerning his succession indicate that his residual heirs, whoever they were, were deceased, and so the estate went to his substituary heirs, namely, his siblings and their successors. From this we infer that his illegitimate daughter Elizabeth must have received no more than a specific bequest, such as a dowry. At the time of her marriage, Elizabeth was under the guardianship of Benoit du Moulin.

[15495] Amyas (or Amias) Chichester was the son of Sir John Chichester of Raleigh, ENG. Joan was the daughter of Sir Roger Gifford or Giffard of Brightleigh, co. Devon, ENG. Pedigree, downloaded from LDS FamilySearch internet site is on file and will need to be verified.
According to one researcher (see NEHGR 51:214) this couple had a very large family: Henry, John, Richard, Hugh, Robert, Gifford, Severus, Philip, Edward, Sylvester, Paul, Bartholomew, Gregory, Francis, Margaret, Elizabeth, Honor, Fanny or Frances. The will of the twelfth child, Bartholomew, names several of the above, as well as some of his Wyatt/Wyott cousins. Perhaps there was a 2d wife? Eighteen children by one wife, while not impossible, sounds like a bit much!
Batholomew apparently had no childlren. In his will, he does not say these are his siblings, rather he called them "kinswoman" and "kinsman" but definitely identifying his cousins. Perhaps they were step-brothers and step-sisters?
Place of birth not given.
d. 4 July 1577, ae 50, of Arlington, co. Devon.
[15494] Chichester pedigree goes back many generations, including the Planatagenets. At this time I am not adding the early generations to my database.
Married Braunton, co. Devon, by 19 Oct. 1584, John Wyatt, gentleman, bapt. 11 Nov. 1557, bur. 29 Nov. 1598, Braunton, son of Philip and Joan (Paty) Wyatt of Braunton. (NEHGR 51:214; Vivian, Devon 823; TAG 57:115-119).
